Spatial Orientation

Development Areas: Spatial Orientation

The notions of space and time are built slowly, based on the perceptions to which our different sensory receptors contribute.

We usually look for the necessary information to place ourselves in space in different elements that are articulated around three axes: vertical (top-bottom), front (right-left) and sagittal (front-back). Through numerous exercises and activities based on movement and variation of positions, children learn these concepts in a fun way in the Avantis Psychomotor class.

Working on spatial orientation in early childhood education contributes to the development of basic notions necessary for the child to locate his or her own body both in terms of the position of the external elements and their own position.
